Manuel Quintero

PERCUSSIONIST

Percussionist with sensitivity and great musical intuition. Natural from Cádiz, he began his career in flamenco in schools and associations in his native land such as the Peña la Perla de Cádiz or the Tertulia Flamenca in San Fernando. He continued his training at the European Dance Center, at the Martín Vargas Academy, with Rafael Cortés and with the prestigious Latin percussionist Joel Páez.

In his artistic journey he has accompanied artists of the stature of Jose Anillo, Francisco Mesa «El Nano», El Duende, Javier Zamora, Guadalupe Giménez, Mercedes Cortés, Juan de Pilar, among others, and sharing a poster with Niña Pastori or Kiki Morente .

His work in different dance companies stands out since its beginnings in 1995 with the Mila de Vargas Company. With the Marta Sol Company, he participates in different Flamenco festivals such as the Palau de la Música in Valencia and the Principal Theater of Castellón within his Flamenco Days.

He is part of the Mediterranean Dance Company, directed by Jose Huertas and Marta Fernández, putting on stage various shows such as Mediterráneo, Formas Flamencas and La mar de Flamenco and touring the main national and international theaters.

Currently immersed in the recording project of the cantaora Isabel Julve «la Malquerida», he is also a member of the sextet of the Valencian guitarist Javier Zamora and combines with performances in the main venues of the Valencian flamenco scene such as Café del Duende or Tablao Flamenco La Bulería. Recently, his interest and dedication to pedagogy are highlighted, teaching various courses and master class in percussion and flamenco compás, as well as collaborations with top international guitarist Juan Habichuela Nieto.
